this week was super super fun! the challenge was to up-cycled/re-purposed. we were asked to improve, refashion, or find a new use for something. i chose to refashion a men's button up shirt into a sweet little summer dress. it was a bit of a process and as you can see from the pictures i thought my chest was smaller than it really is, oh well. i made a yellow bow belt to go with the dress to add some summer color. i will be posting the tutorial on how to make it on my blog the day after the top 5 are announced.

This is a really great idea! I have a few to large button shirts that are getting a makeover. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteI am a little confused on some of your directions. I am at the part where I sew the lining piece together and then the actual shirt pieces together. Do you make new button holes in the lining? I feel like a step was left out. Also in your picture, the top of the back piece looks gathered, but I don't see that anywhere in the tutorial, only gathering of the skirt pieces. When did you do that? Thanks for the extra help.
